Let's dive in!
Ingredients:
For the pie crust:
Pillsbury Pie Crust (or homemade)
For the Apple Filling:
About 5 apples sliced
½ cup granulated sugar
¼ cup light or dark brown sugar, packed
2 tablespoons (15g) all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon lemon juice
For the crumble topping:
¾ cup all-purpose flour
½ cup granulated sugar
¼ cuplight or dark brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup unsalted butter, microwaved 30 seconds
Directions:
Prepare the Crust:
Roll out your pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie dish.
Make the Apple Filling:
In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples with granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Toss until the apples are evenly coated. Set aside.
Prepare the Crumble Topping:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Mix until it resembled clusters of crumble.
Assemble the Pie:
Preheat your oven to 400°F.
Spoon the apple filling into the pie crust, arranging it evenly. Sprinkle the crumble topping generously over the apples.
Bake:
Place the pie on a baking sheet to catch any drips. Bake for 20 minutes at 400°F, then reduce the temperature to 375°F and bake for an additional 30 minutes, or until the filling is bubbly and the topping is golden brown.
Cool:
Allow the pie to cool for at least 2 hours before slicing to ensure the filling sets properly.
Tips:
Prevent Over-Browning: If the crumble topping or crust edges start to brown too quickly, cover them loosely with aluminum foil.
Serve with Flair: Pair slices with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra indulgent treat.
