Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Banana Bread
Prep Time: 15 minutes | Bake Time: 40 minutes | Total Time: 55 minutes
Introduction:
This banana bread recipe is a classic with a twist. With rich, nutty browned butter and gooey chocolate chips, this loaf is the ultimate comfort bake. Perfectly moist and delicious, it’s easy to whip up and guaranteed to impress.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter (browned)
2 large eggs
1 cup mashed banana (about 3 ripe bananas)
2/3 cup brown sugar
1 3/4 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup chocolate chips
Directions:
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
Brown the Butter: Heat the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until it turns golden brown and smells nutty. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, mashed bananas, and brown sugar until smooth.
Add Dry Ingredients: Add the flour, baking soda, and salt to the bowl. Stir until just combined — avoid overmixing to keep the bread tender.
Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the chocolate chips to distribute them evenly throughout the batter.
Bake the Bread: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool and Slice: Allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
Tips:
Use very ripe bananas with brown spots for the sweetest, most flavorful bread. (I actually used frozen bananas and then microwaved them for 40 seconds)
For added texture, sprinkle a few extra chocolate chips on top of the batter before baking.
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or freeze slices for a quick snack later.
